Asteroid explosion over Indonesia – Oct 8th 2009 1

Incredible this has been barely noticed by the American Media.  The importance of what it represents is a “tiny” fraction example of the risk we live with, everyday.

This article, being shown on “Telegraph.co.uk” relates what happen in early October when an Asteroid hitting our atmosphere exploded with the force of 3 Hiroshima Bombs just 20 miles above Sea level over Indonesia.  It was only 10 meters long.   Hardly any media coverage or discussion was shared in this, even though it set off alot of Nuclear Explosion detectors throughout that side of the hemisphere.

Our Earth is our island, our home, our single place of existence.  If we don’t take the actions needed, and soon, to create the Life boat needed to safe guard our existance, it’s only a matter of time before nature and history catches up with us.  We need at least, a second home to call our own.  We need to colonize space.  It’s up to us to put it in motion.  If we wait for a catastrophe to happen to justify the need for space colonization, that disaster could destroy us all before we even had a chance to try.

Transportation

How do we get there?  

Before you get overwhelmed with this idea, and the magnitude it implies, think back to your history books on how the colonists or sea faring travelers traveled from one point to another. 

  • What mode of transportation did they use, (e.g. a clipper ship, etc)?
  • How was their vehicle powered, (e.g. the wind, etc)?
  • What survival provisions did they need to accomplish this task?

Now, just looking at just the few I mentioned here, ask yourself how do we answer these same kinds of questions for a space faring nation.

The longer the travel, the bigger the ship.

Jump in, start the engines, and let’s get this think-tank machine started :-)

Project Management

Such a large and long term initiative on a global scale not only includes extensive thought, planning, design and determination, but also very careful and well-thought out Project Planning.  That’s where Project Management comes in!

Project Management Work breakout structure timescales we’re looking at here can very well run into decades, years, or longer even.

This would be based on all the complexities needed to cover dependencies, our past at technological advancements, and our progress as a people in investing, contributing and implementing the time and commitment needed to make such an endeavor possible.

Please us this section to propose long-term templates of approach in a Project Manager’s point-of-view, on what you think it will take in order to make  something like this achievable or not.   Wouldn’t it be great to say, it took the foresight of an experienced Project Manager to start the foundation to take us to the stars and beyond?   Granted, many space organizations already have these groups of project manager teams that try to take on this type of thought-provoking task, but many of them are limited by the constraints from the industries and worlds they work in.

You’re not!  

Be creative, be daring, be dynamic, use your own powerful success formulas from your project management experiences here, today, to make a difference for us all!

Good luck!  Now, let’s start to take this on, and make the PMI Institute, proud!

Energy

Solar, Wind-driven, Nuclear, Hydrogen, Magnetic, Chemical, Thermal, Gravitational, and so many others are the topic for discussion under this section.  Questons to ask ourselves can be:

1.  What is the most efficient energy source we could use both for means of transportation and also to sustain us in our travels from Earth to our new home on another planet, or living in a generation ship?

2.  What’s within our grasp today, technology and resource wise, that is realistically feasible?

3.  Does “living off the land” theories realistic like the ones proposed for Mars, for reproducing Energy sources after we have arrived?

Feel free to tackle these questions, and add anymore you think qualifies here!

Our journey begins….. 4

The journey of our heart, spirit and soul for our future, and our children’s future lies in each of us.  Thanks to the many generations of individuals in truly believing the importance of becoming a space-faring nation, and building, achieving, and growing on this strong heritage.  NASA, the Russian Federal Space Agency, ESA, and many other grass root organizations and commercial industry leaders have given us the rare opportunity to survive as a species beyond just being a spark of light in the history of time and space that makes up the history of our home planet, solar system and galaxy.

Imagine colonies of planets, generation space stations and ships, and technology advances preserving our Eco-System for generations to come so we as a species will forever thrive, grow, and advert single-point-of-disaster potentials if we are to expand and flourish throughout the galaxy.

No more would we be afraid of one lone meteorite or comet snuffing everything we are, out in one single quick blast.  Some traveling at speeds 10 times or more faster then a speeding  bullet.  How can any early warning system ever warn us in time to avoid or even prevent such a thing with our current technology levels as they are today.

Now, government funding is losing more and more focus on the importance of our future survival, cutting more and more funding and chances in building and growing this lifeboat which earth and all of mankind so desperately needs.  How can we turn our backs on thinking this tiny island will never be a victim of disaster and destruction when the evidence of history, time and time again has shown otherwise.

Every journey has a beginning….  ours is about to start, here… now.

I invite everyone to join me in a journey of creating the discussion, planning, and tangible implementation of contributing to SPACE COLONIZATION, it’s future for all of planet Earth.   This blog will be the first step in building this cohesion, sharing of knowledge, linking other groups together in common cause and also serve as a central hub in the great tapestry needed to make such a dream a reality.

You have a chance, here and now, to change, contribute, and be apart of history.

Each of us has a unique past, skills, experiences, and talents the Earth so desperately needs to make all of this possible.

This site will begin to open up more and more as the weeks go by.  It’s time for the voices of all mankind be heard that the red-tape of politics, social group agendas, and inward focused thinking organizations understand that our path is clear.  The distractions of these re-directions will no longer smoke screen the truth, the truth that we need to expand into the Galaxy for all mankind.
